With strategic initiatives and a focus on transparency, the Kenya Aquatics is poised to foster a new era of excellence in the sport

Kenya Aquatics has ticked yet another box this year after unveiling its latest initiative, which involves the establishment of a comprehensive database that will come in handy in the federation’s bid to boost the national swimming standards.

The database, one reflected upon by Chairperson of Kenya Aquatics Technical Committee chair Omar Omari, comes together with a published list of the recent long course records by Kenyan swimmers.

Alongside diversifying swimming disciplines in the country, the swimming federation has now delivered on another promise made in their manifesto last year.

"The federation is now working hard to establish a national database record which will go a long way in guiding training and competition," Omari said of the new development. "The technical committee is working closely with all stakeholders to ensure Kenya has a stable database with clear ranking of various strokes and age groups."

With the new database, all records will now be accessible to the public all in a bid to enhance accountability and transparency within the sport.

Over the years, the selection process of swimmers to international competitions has been met with lots of questions, but a new dawn has now been reached.

And in addition to the database, Omari hopes that attention will now shift to supporting coaches in the country through training clinics.

This comes after a number of Kenyan coaches (36) graduated with ASCA Level Three and Four Certificates in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

"We are also planning to work with various stakeholders and roll out as many coaching and training clinics as possible in order to improve the capacity of local coaches and swimmers,” Omari added. “We aim to be the best swimming country in Africa and we have the capacity, only by doing the right things."
